I had my first child just before my 37 birthday. Late, I know. But get this, the second didn’t come until I was nearly 45. She was an eye-opener for me. Consumed by the pregnancy, I hadn’t thought beyond it. But within days of her birth, I started doing math. Lots of it. I realized I would have to get through another 5 years of elementary school. Then I figured out how old I’d be when she graduated from high school. Then college.
And that’s what started me on the path to opening this studio.
I had been working out and staying strong in anticipation of her birth (worked out right up to the last 2 weeks before!), but within 2 years of her being born, I got serious, finished my first fitness certification and started teaching group classes–mostly because I couldn’t find an instructor in Roswell as good as the one I had in Florida!
Then, as I explored the field and moved into Personal Training, Pilates, and Yoga, I got frustrated with the Parks and Rec Department (where I was teaching) because they couldn’t buy all the “toys” I wanted to use. And that’s why I finally opened up my own studio. I have lots of certifications (AFAA certified Personal Trainer, Certified Chi Running / Chi Walking instructor, Advanced Functional Training Specialist, AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Kids in Motion, SCW Reformer, Balletone, Practical Pilates, Practical Yoga) and I bring all of this knowledge to every client and to every class.
Why does that matter? It matters because it means that everything I do for my clients is backed by science.
It also means that at 57, I am not only fit. I am stronger and healthier than at any other time in my life.
Work with me and you can be, too.
Here I am playing with some of my toys!
